Our History

Fayetteville Animal Clinic moved to our new home here at 1920 Wilson Pkwy.

December 08, 1984

It took two years from inception to operation ready and it took lots of people believing and working hard to help make it possible. The physical plant consists of 16,000 square feet under one roof on 2.5 acres. Complete health facilities for pets and farm animals, combined with our great staff, makes us one of the most comprehensive veterinary medical services available anywhere in the country!

A new clinic was constructed for pet and farm animals

Dr. Tom H. Bullington joined Dr. Byrd at that mule barn until October of that year, when a new clinic was constructed for pet and farm animals on US 64 West (Pulaski Hwy). This "state of the art facility" served as our clinic home for 33 years, at which point we had grown into needing an even larger facility!

Going back a little bit further.

On August 14, 1944, a young Cecil E. Byrd, DVM arrived at a mule barn here in Fayetteville, TN. He planned on talking to Ross Whitaker, DVM, a 44 year old Lincoln County native who had graduated from Kansas City School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Whitaker was Fayetteville’s only veterinarian at that time and Dr. Byrd wanted to discuss practicing here. That discussion never came to pass, as Dr. Whitaker had died of a heart attack two weeks earlier. So that very same day, the first home of Fayetteville Animal Clinic was established on the “old Fire Hall hill” in front of the mule barn. The present day location is across from the restaurant Cahoots!

Graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018, I started here at Fayetteville Animal Clinic in June of that same year. My education includes my Motlow associate degree and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Middle Tennessee State University. I’m on the board of directors for TN Hereford Association and Franklin County Farm Bureau.

Born and raised in Winchester, TN, I’m a fourth generation hereford breeder. I’m also an active church member and my hobbies include raising those hereford cattle, hay production and gun restoration.

After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee, I went on to complete my DVM at UTCVM in 2013. While in undergrad, I competed on the livestock judging team, collegiate quadrathlon team, and was an active member of the Block and Bridle Club. During vet school, I continued to focus on my large animal interest. I was a member of the palpation team and co-president of the Food Animal Club. After graduation, my husband and I moved back to middle TN, where both of our families live. I started a mobile practice, where I served southern middle TN. When the opportunity arose to work at FAC, where I did a summer externship, I was excited to come back. I started at FAC as an associate veterinarian in the fall of 2014.

I am so thankful to be a part of a multi-doctor practice, and I really value the collaboration on cases. FAC is a very family-oriented practice, and my little boy loves coming to the clinic!

I started here at Fayetteville Animal Clinic in March of 1993. Since I was a child, all I ever wanted to do was work in the veterinary profession. I love what I do and truly feel that I am fulfilling my “calling” in life. I have been married for 26 years, and we own a cocker spaniel named Charlie and a cattle farm.
